Past Projects Going To New Designers - Wallpaper

At the start of my third year I was given a brief to create a 'Wall Covering'. This could have been a bespoke creation or a commercial repeat design.

I didn't choose the direction I wanted to go in but concentrated on getting good research and developing my ideas from that.

After visiting the V&A and looking at all the Buddhist artefacts I became interested in the symbols and meanings within the imagery.

Combining this with a colour palette of only white, and a choice of working just with paper, I began to explore every possibility within my limited theme.

Through experimenting with different papers and paper manipulation techniques I developed my work into 5 final ideas.

Arts Thread Portfolio For New Designers

My page now has all my work uploaded. Might put some more on yet but all the most recent 3rd year work I have done is on there.

Hopefully this will bring some interest in what I have done and capable of doing in the future!

It can be found here:

But these are a few screen shots of what the page looks like and what I have put on there.

Staffordshire University Show and Tell Degree Show!

Friday was our opening night, was great to see the studio full of people looking at everyones work, and all making really positive comments. All our hard work payed off and all the work looked great.

I was honoured to be chosen to represent the course by a piece of my work being selected to be framed and hung in the entrance hall where the opening speeches and awards took place.

The work done for Stoke On Trent's Transformation garden was also shown off on a course success story board and on some of the huge posters which is brilliant!

Here are a few images of the my work in the show!

Little Competition Entry

I always love to take photos everywhere I go if something happens to catch me eye, you never know when they might come in handy. And if not its always something nice to look back on.

I came across the Tigerprint Photographic Blanks Competition, to enter up to 5 images that would be suitable for a card in Marks And Spencer.

Tigerprint competitions can be found here:

designcompetition.tigerprint.uk.com

Since I have thousands of images to choose from I had a good look through and chose the ones I though were the best and most appropriate.

These are the 5 I have entered:

I liked the idea of the want to look beyond something, through a door or window, behind a gate or through a gap in some buildings.

So hopefully my happy snapping will pay off, worth a try!

Degree Show Building

This is my degree show space!

I had lots of things I possibly wanted to use but not enough space for them all, so I tried arranging it all different ways to see what fitted best.

After lots of rearranging and days of putting things up and making everything right it all came together really nicely.

I managed to fit in 4 different elements of my work which was really good, by displaying things to make the most of the space I had. I think adding in the floor space made a big difference to the overall feel of the display.

Looking forward to opening night on the 7th June!
