Cushions

Now all my work has been marked and New Designers is over, I have decided to sell my cushions. Being an art and design student I have accumulated a large amount of equipment and produced a lot of work over the years!

I am really bad at not throwing anything away, since you never know when you might need something!

Saying this, my cushions are quite big and I really don't have room for them all! So I would like to send them off to new homes. If anyone if interested in buying one, please contact me:

emilyhackett@me.com

and I can give you more details!

I have also just joined Bloglovin!

Arts Thread Portfolio For New Designers

My page now has all my work uploaded. Might put some more on yet but all the most recent 3rd year work I have done is on there.

Hopefully this will bring some interest in what I have done and capable of doing in the future!

It can be found here:

But these are a few screen shots of what the page looks like and what I have put on there.

Staffordshire University Show and Tell Degree Show!

Friday was our opening night, was great to see the studio full of people looking at everyones work, and all making really positive comments. All our hard work payed off and all the work looked great.

I was honoured to be chosen to represent the course by a piece of my work being selected to be framed and hung in the entrance hall where the opening speeches and awards took place.

The work done for Stoke On Trent's Transformation garden was also shown off on a course success story board and on some of the huge posters which is brilliant!

Here are a few images of the my work in the show!

Degree Show Building

This is my degree show space!

I had lots of things I possibly wanted to use but not enough space for them all, so I tried arranging it all different ways to see what fitted best.

After lots of rearranging and days of putting things up and making everything right it all came together really nicely.

I managed to fit in 4 different elements of my work which was really good, by displaying things to make the most of the space I had. I think adding in the floor space made a big difference to the overall feel of the display.

Looking forward to opening night on the 7th June!

Degree Show Building!

Over the last few weeks we have been clearing the studio, painting boards and putting up our work ready for assessments and then the degree show!

I have also been making things at home with the extra fabric print I did, I have always liked making things but not had much chance whilst being at University.

Since I always like to be different I chose to make some triangular cushions, to fit in with my geometric theme, and also a bean bag, since I had lots of fabric to play with!

I enjoy doing my research so have been scouring blogs and Pinterest to find some interesting and inspirational ways to possibly display my work too.

Heres where my inspiration has come from, pictures of my work and show space to follow soon!

Kicked Out Of The Studio

Here is our sad lonely studio, being prepared for the degree show, feels odd not to have my own space in there anymore!
Will be exciting to see my space, get painting and have my work on show!

In the meantime I have been making my triangular cushions and bean bag out of my second fabric print and the backing fabric from my first one, which turned out really nice.
Was nice to go from start to finish and design, print and make something of my own.
Even the pup wanted to join in!

RHS Chelsea Cushions

The extra group project I have been working on has come to an end and these are the results! We have designed and hand screen printed every cushion, using stencils, screens, foils and a colour palette inspired by the brief and images we were given.

They will be part of the Transformation garden, created by Stoke On Trent Council. Lots of different local companies have been involved, including Moorcroft, and Johnson Tiles who have both contibuted ceramics.

http://www.moorcroft.com/Site/News/newsdetail.asp?eid=556 - more information from Moorcroft about their input.

And this is the facebook page with some of our work on!

Please have a look and like us!

We will be going to Chelsea to see our cushions in place in the garden which is very exciting and something to look forward to!
