Getting Prepared

While I'm off for Easter and the print room is locked away from me, I am starting to think about the next project that will take me to the end of the year, my final ever project, scary!

I want to put some designs onto shutters so I have been looking into different ways of decoration and display.

This is the start of my research, not sure about my theme yet!

Now For The Real Thing

After lots of practising and testing, tweaking colours and sampling fabrics....

I have started the final print! 

So far I have finished my block colour layer, after the Easter break I will be able to take that off the print table and start on my patterned layer! 

Test Print Done...

Heres my print adding in the coloured patterns step by step.

My final won't look like this because it will be on two layers of fabric, the colours will look slightly different.

Theres a few bits that need taking out or adding in that should or shouldn't be there, but nothing that can't be fixed....

Now for the real thing!!

Test Printing

After mixing and testing all my colours on Monday, I began testing and registering all my screens to get them all lined up perfectly, make sure everything was there and that I was happy with all my colours together.

So far I have printed the 4 block colours that will sit together on one piece of fabric, the next step is to print the 4 colours of texture over the top to get them in the right place and test to see if everything is right.

Then I can get on with the final print!

 

My Screens Are Done!

These are my HUGE screens, each one with the different elements of the animals that make up my design. 

Excited to start printing with these next week and seeing my design in all its colours for the first time

Kodatracing Done!!

After some very very long hours stood at the light box all week, I have finally finished doing the 8 layers of kodatrace needed for my 8 seperate screens. It was a huge job but now I can look forward to getting this on a screen and being able to print, which is next weeks job!

Finally Finished!

After some long hours my design was finished by Friday, ready for me to start printing next week!

Just all the niggly technical bits to sort out first, lots of photocopying onto acetate, making the screens, registering them all so my design lines up and mixing colours...After that I should be ready to go!

Upping The Scale

I have been working on my final repeating print design and used lots of different stylised animals from my original drawings, and added all my monoprint patterns to them.

I chose one to blow up to a really big scale to see what it would look like.

This is bigger than the scale of my final print but I wish it could be this big!

Print Testing!

During the past week I have been using my test screen to try out different colours, layering colours on top of each other and trying some fabrics.

Being brave with my colour combinations and seeing what works!
