Little Competition Entry

I always love to take photos everywhere I go if something happens to catch me eye, you never know when they might come in handy. And if not its always something nice to look back on.

I came across the Tigerprint Photographic Blanks Competition, to enter up to 5 images that would be suitable for a card in Marks And Spencer.

Tigerprint competitions can be found here:

designcompetition.tigerprint.uk.com

Since I have thousands of images to choose from I had a good look through and chose the ones I though were the best and most appropriate.

These are the 5 I have entered:

I liked the idea of the want to look beyond something, through a door or window, behind a gate or through a gap in some buildings.

So hopefully my happy snapping will pay off, worth a try!

Degree Show Building

This is my degree show space!

I had lots of things I possibly wanted to use but not enough space for them all, so I tried arranging it all different ways to see what fitted best.

After lots of rearranging and days of putting things up and making everything right it all came together really nicely.

I managed to fit in 4 different elements of my work which was really good, by displaying things to make the most of the space I had. I think adding in the floor space made a big difference to the overall feel of the display.

Looking forward to opening night on the 7th June!

Degree Show Building!

Over the last few weeks we have been clearing the studio, painting boards and putting up our work ready for assessments and then the degree show!

I have also been making things at home with the extra fabric print I did, I have always liked making things but not had much chance whilst being at University.

Since I always like to be different I chose to make some triangular cushions, to fit in with my geometric theme, and also a bean bag, since I had lots of fabric to play with!

I enjoy doing my research so have been scouring blogs and Pinterest to find some interesting and inspirational ways to possibly display my work too.

Heres where my inspiration has come from, pictures of my work and show space to follow soon!

Kicked Out Of The Studio

Here is our sad lonely studio, being prepared for the degree show, feels odd not to have my own space in there anymore!
Will be exciting to see my space, get painting and have my work on show!

In the meantime I have been making my triangular cushions and bean bag out of my second fabric print and the backing fabric from my first one, which turned out really nice.
Was nice to go from start to finish and design, print and make something of my own.
Even the pup wanted to join in!

Wallpapers Are Printed!

After a couple of weeks working on my designs, tweaking colours, new layouts and considering which ones could go together with my fabric print, I have chosen to print off 9 designs.

I have put them into 3 collections of 3, based on colour and how busy they are. Some are really simple, more like textures, and others more statement, one wall kind of designs.

Since I have my big print I chose just to print off the repeat square of each one. This way I can put a few in my degree show and the others will fit in my portfolio!

Here they are!

Wallpaper Designs

After finishing my fabric print, I have decided keep the theme going and work on some wallpaper designs.

I felt like I could get more out of the background research and imagery I already had.

Because of this I have quickly been able to come up with lots of designs, using the drawings, patterns, monoprints and colours that have appeared in my work so far.

These a just a few of the designs I have come up with!

Putting Together A Portfolio

Last week I found out I had an interview, great news, but scary at the same time!

I spent quite a few days preparing my portfolio, selecting what to put in it (very difficult!) and mounting everything up. I also did research about the company, where the products are sold, the names of ranges and certain pieces that I liked, you never know what the questions might be!

This was my first proper interview so it was hard to know what a company would expect to see, so I opted for a bit of everything!
